Women Dismissed from the Military for Being Gay

A larger amount of women then men were dismissed from the military for being gay. In fiscal year 2008, the Air Force dismissed 56 women and 34 men.

In 1994, the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy was implemented. This policy banned openly gay soldiers from serving in the military. In the air force, a majority of the troops banned were homosexual women. The statistics are also higher in the Army. Of those discharged under the policy, 36 percent were women, although women make up only 14 percent of troops in the Army.

Personally, I believe this "don't ask, don't tell" policy is crap. Despite what sexuality, gender, race, or religion you are, you deserve a chance to do what you want to do. Taking away something like that could be like your sixth birthday when you ask your parents for a pony or a racecar, and you anticipate the day you'll open the garage door and there sits your mustang pony, or mustang car. And when the day finally comes and you open up that garage door and nothing is there, your dream is crushed. Despite how high you are on the political latter, you should not be able to take away a person's right. Case closed.
